Text Phishing Schemes
Town & Country Bank and Trust Co. (TCBT) had received reports of possible text phishing schemes this week. The message has reported said “Wilson & Muir Bank Urgent: Your card has been suspended! To reinstate your card go to your personal link (then gave link).” This is a phishing scam to see if customers and non-customers will respond back with their account information. Please do not give out any account information via text, email or by phone. Wilson & Muir has been made aware of this issue.
Phone Phishing Schemes
Town & Country Bank and Trust Co. (TCBT) had received reports of possible phone phishing schemes in the past few weeks. Some TCBT customers, as well as non-customers, received a phone call with an automated message stating that their debit card has been compromised. The victim is then prompted to enter the card number, expiration date, PIN, and security code in order to validate the card. Some customers received a similar call with an automated message prompting the victim enter his or her online banking information.
Please be advised that these calls are not coming from Town & Country Bank and Trust Co. If you have received such a call and have entered any of your card or online banking information requested during this fraudulent call, please contact us immediately so we can take proper action to protect your account. After hours, please call 1-800-500-1044 to cancel your debit card.
